On Friday October 26th the City of Revere will host an Economic Development Summit at the Comfort Inn & Suites to showcase the city’s development opportunities to real estate professionals from across the country. The event will include a presentation of promising expansion sites and local incentives, along with a guided tour of the city. Guest speakers include Congressman Edward Markey, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, State Senator Anthony Petruccelli, Representative Kathi-Anne Reinstein, Victoria Maguire of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing & Economic Development, and Laura Canter Executive Vice President for Finance Programs of MassDevelopment.
Mayor Rizzo formed a working group of City officials at the beginning of the summer to begin planning and organizing the summit. It is his goal to use this event to foster local economic development that supports the creation of good paying jobs, helps relieve residential tax burdens, adds to the vibrancy of Revere and creates a stable and long term commercial tax base for the city.
“During difficult economic times it is now more important than ever that the City of Revere find new tax revenue by attracting business to invest. The city is looking to examples set by our neighbors, who have benefited by extending property tax credits to commercial businesses to encourage business investment. My economic development team continues to be aggressive in its goal of bringing new capitol development to our city,” commented Mayor Rizzo.
Over forty local and national development companies will be coming to the summit in late October including Eurovest Development, Suffolk Downs, etc.
