The 2015 Revere Beach National Sand Sculpting Festival  will be held July 24- 26 . The event is in its 12th year and hosted by the Revere Beach Partnership, a non-profit organization, this free event is open to the public and draws crowds from all over New England. Revere Beach Partnership is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 2011. Its purpose is to continue the heritage of Revere Beach as a nearby retreat for New England families; to preserve the beach’s unique historic and natural assets; to strengthen the beach as an asset to our community by the development of programs and community; to plan and oversee the continued improvement of Revere Beach. The Partnership consists of an executive director, a volunteer Board of Directors, and other volunteers that share a love for Revere Beach. Urban planning students from the Harvard Graduate School of Design presented many varied ideas for the future redevelopment of major properties in Revere. But a few common themes emerged. “Everybody in the community had an intense pride concerning Revere, and then Bell Circle comes up and there was just general agreement that it is a disaster,” said student Tamara Jafar, from Ann Arbor, Mich. Students from the Harvard Graduate School of Design’s Urban Planning Core Studio II joined Revere city officials and community members Thursday night to present the results of an investigation of the redevelopment opportunities for several Revere properties. Revere Beach Hotel Deal Coming Together

Story by Seth Daniel -Revere Journal   Hotel  Deal Coming Together for Revere Beach Developers for Waterfront Square are preparing to begin the process of bringing a hotel to Revere Beach – specifically on the parcel of land on the beach side of Wonderland Station. Joe DiGangi, of EuroVest, announced late last week that the project is preparing to welcome the addition of a Marriott hotel to the beachfront. “We are in the process of finalizing the documents,” he said. “To date, Marriott has approved the site, and they have brought on board one of their preferred hotel developers/operators.” Mayor Dan Rizzo said it was a another bit of good news and added it to a list of recent accomplishments. He said he was glad to see that project picking up in the commercial development side.

Shop Small on Saturday Mayor Rizzo is once again partnering with the Revere Chamber of Commerce to promote “Small Business Saturday” on November 29. Small Business Saturday was founded in 2010 by American Express to help local businesses gain more customers and now, that program has turned into a powerful movement that drives shoppers to local merchants across the country. Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar small businesses. The day will start with a Community Kickoff Coffee Hour at Kinship Floral, LLC between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Businesses and consumers will be invited to meet neighborhood business owners and preview their special offers at the Chamber’s pop-up market. “Small Business Passports” will also be available to consumers at all participating businesses.

Revere Tornado Relief Fund established

Revere Mayor Dan Rizzo and a host of other federal and local officials will be on hand Friday to formally launch the Revere Tornado Relief Fund. http://www.reveretornadorelief.org The fund, created on GoFundMe.com, has a goal of raising $1 million. According to a statement by Rizzo, regular homeowner’s insurance plans may not cover much of the damage caused by the tornado. “Total estimated damage is in the millions of dollars. With the extreme rarity of the tornado in Revere, a vast majority of these costs will likely not be covered by private insurance,” he said. “We have set up this fund so that these residents and business owners are not alone in shouldering the burden of rebuilding their lives and our community.” There are several ways you can donate to the fund.
