Saugus Iron Works is a National Historic Site located about 3 miles northeast of the city of Revere. The Saugus Iron Works is the site of the first integrated ironworks in North America, founded by John Winthrop it was in operation between 1646 â€“ 1668. The facility includes a reconstructed blast furnace, forge, rolling mill, shear, slitter and a quarter-ton drop hammer. There is of course many great stores for shopping at Northgate Shopping Center and many fine restaurants and bars on the beach and throughout the city.
