Beach services and seasonal rules

Lifeguard coverage

For 2026, DCR lists weekend and holiday early-season coverage beginning May 23, followed by regular seven-day coverage from June 13 through Labor Day, September 7, from 10:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Coverage is subject to staffing and required training. Never assume a lifeguard is present—look for the staffed area and follow posted instructions.

Dogs at Revere Beach

DCR lists dogs as prohibited from April through mid-September. The card above changes with that seasonal window, but signs at the reservation control. Plan an off-season visit if you are bringing a dog.

Cleaning and facilities

The beach is cleaned daily by DCR. Revere Beach Reservation also lists seasonal lifeguards, first aid, restrooms, pavilions, paved walkways, a beach mat and beach wheelchairs among its visitor services.

Hours and swimming

The reservation is open from dawn to dusk. Swimming is only permitted in designated areas and, during the listed 2026 season, is no longer permitted after 5:45 p.m. Follow DCR signs, flags and staff directions.

Water-quality season

Massachusetts beach monitoring is seasonal, generally running from late May through Labor Day, with exact dates determined by the operator. Testing frequency varies by beach and conditions; the live state dashboard is the authoritative source for postings.

Other key rules

No alcohol, fires or littering are permitted. Conditions, access and operations can change after storms or other events. Review DCR park alerts before a special trip.

Safety note: lifeguard coverage, good weather and the absence of a visible posting do not eliminate risk. Ocean conditions can change quickly. Never swim during a posted closure, outside a designated swimming area, or when local officials or lifeguards advise against entering the water.
