Oceanside Walking Trail Marked- Beachmont Urban Trail

Story by John Laidler-Boston.com

Residents are invited to help celebrate the opening of the Beachmont Urban Trail. The Beachmont Improvement Committee recently established the 2-mile “urban walking trail,” a designated route along city sidewalks — some of which run along Short Beach — that is marked with signs and painted footprints. Next Saturday the group is holding an official kick-off ceremony for the trail at 10 a.m. outside the Beachmont School, 15 Everard Ave. The event will be followed by a group walk of the looped trail, which begins and ends at the school, running along the perimeter of the Beachmont neighborhood. The trail project was intended to provide a safe route for people to walk and enjoy scenic ocean views. It was created through a grant from Revere on the Move, a program to promote healthy eating and fitness in the city that is funded in part by Partners Health Care and the state Department of Public Health.
