Revere Mayor Dan Rizzo and a host of other federal and local officials will be on hand Friday to formally launch the Revere Tornado Relief Fund. http://www.reveretornadorelief.org
The fund, created on GoFundMe.com, has a goal of raising $1 million.
According to a statement by Rizzo, regular homeowner’s insurance plans may not cover much of the damage caused by the tornado.
“Total estimated damage is in the millions of dollars. With the extreme rarity of the tornado in Revere, a vast majority of these costs will likely not be covered by private insurance,” he said. “We have set up this fund so that these residents and business owners are not alone in shouldering the burden of rebuilding their lives and our community.”
There are several ways you can donate to the fund. You can follow this link to donate online, drop off a donation in person at the People’s United Bank at 310 Broadway in Revere, or mail a donation to: Revere Tornado Relief Fund, PO Box 496, Revere, MA 02151.
