This week’s feature is New Deal Fruit Inc. 920 Broadway Revere. I had a conversation with owner Domenic Petruzzelli, who gave me a look into how the Petruzzelli family has been running the business for generations.
This iconic business is a one-stop-shop for groceries, lunch, and good conversation. The staff here is friendly and hospitable, and it seems like type of place where everyone’s on a first-name basis.
The first thing you see when you walk in is the abundance of fresh produce, the mounds of pasta, and the finest sauces and ingredients (some even imported from Italy). Not only that, everything in New Deal Fruit is neatly arranged and orderly.
Next up is the massive and stunning deli. There’s an abundance of fine meats and cheeses (some so unique you won’t find anywhere else), cheeses. Domenic took me around the whole place showing me the ins and outs of what it takes to run this business, sharing how grateful they are for the continued support of the community.
One thing that I appreciated was how closely they followed Covid-19 safety pre-cautions, from managing the number of people indoors to spacing out the deli line (which gets long during rush hour) to ensure every patron is taken care of all while feeling safe and being socially distant.
Last but not least – and this was a total surprise to me – New Deal actually ages their own Provolone cheese!! As a cheese enthusiast, I was blown away to see nearly 1,000 lbs of cheese being aged, right here at New Deal! Check out the images below to see for yourself.
There is something very heart warming and comforting about hearing how a business goes from generation to generation, stays in the family, and continues to provide the same great quality of product and service. While we venture out to find new businesses each week to feature and showcase, be sure to check New Deal Fruit Inc. at https://newdealfruit.com/
