Revere Happenings

Revere, Winthrop, East Boston and Lynn Join Forces in Splash

Editorial

Story by Revere Advocate

For the first time, the residents near Revere Beach, Winthrop Beach, Constitution Beach, and Lynn/Nahant Beach will join forces on March 29 in an effort to raise funds for Save the Harbor/Save the Bay. This is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to continue the improvement of Boston Harbor and all of the metropolitan beaches. This organization has been instrumental in the improved water quality of the beaches and the harbor islands, as well as the improved maintenance of the beaches.

For the past four years, Save the Harbor/Save the Bay has been hosting a “Cupid Splash” to raise funds for the purpose of helping to fund activities on the beaches. All money raised in each city is used for activities on that city’s beach. The Revere Beach Partnership is looking for “splashers” to brave the cold waters of Revere Beach on March 29. The event will be held on the beach in front of Kelly’s at noon. All participants are asked to arrive approximately 30 minutes before the actual plunge. Be sure to bring your supporters to cheer you on. We recommend that you bring a big towel or blanket for after the splash.
What added incentive do you need? Money to be used on our beach plus a chance to win airline tickets – Wow! Log on to Cupidsplash.com to register for this worthwhile event.
