SAUGUS
Bike to the Sea issued the following press release

For the first time in about 10 years, residents and officials from all five municipalities of the Northern Strand Community Trail met to discuss plans to complete the proposed trail in Everett, Malden, Revere, Saugus and Lynn.
The trail, spearheaded by Bike to the Sea, Inc. since 1993, is now built in a continuous 7.5-mile stretch through Everett, Malden, Revere and Saugus, but improvements are still planned in those communities.
Meanwhile, the City of Lynn has not yet approved plans to extend the trail there. However, Lynn officials in attendance — including state Sen. Thomas M. McGee, and City Councilor John M. Walsh, Jr. — both said they support extending the trail through Lynn to Nahant Beach.
“I support the coordinated effort to make sure Lynn is part of this,” McGee told the more than 40 people in attendance at the Saugus Public Library on Friday, March 18. “Lynn could be the transportation hub for the North Shore and bikes are a key part of that.”
