Welcome back to Small Business Sunday’s, a series featuring local businesses on and around Revere Beach! This series features a little behind-the-scenes of our local businesses sharing their story, the overall experience and a reminder to shop and support local. Esquite – located at 184 Shirley Avenue Revere MA
From the colorful streets of Mexico, to the sandy shores of Revere Beach, this weeks feature is Esquite; the latest edition of hot new eateries on the Ave. A little back story on how this place came to be – before Esquite, the family owned business started as a small food cart company known as ‘Eloti’, in which they sold Mexican Street corn all over the Boston area.
In just a few short years, they became well known throughout Massachusetts and decided to grow our passion for Mexican Street food and start a restaurant named after their most popular product, the Esquite.
In just a few short months this spunky eatery has quickly become a favorite of the area and definitely a favorite in my household.
I’ve been there quite a few times since it opened but my favorite time was most recently when I took my mom on a typical chilly fall afternoon.
Let’s start with the ambiance of this place, the word to describe it is happiness. The black base decor with bright bold artwork just puts a smile on your face, absolutely stunning.
Due to covid it’s primarily take out or a few seats outside. I felt very safe and comfortable as everyone is masked up, all patrons and employees pay close attention to covid safety protocols. It’s perfect to pick up, get it delivered or take it to go and sit by the beach while the weather is still nice.
Now for the good stuff, the food is BOMB I mean it is GOOD. Remember how I told you I took my mom the most recent visit… what I didn’t tell you is how much of a tough critic she is when it comes to food (I’ve inherited that trait). Anyways we got the the elote, enchiladas de mole, tamales de rojas and flan. Each and every item was hot, fresh ingredients and flavorful. Our favorite was the elote – talk about the perfect comfort food on a cold winter day.
